They're just diodes. Rather large ones.
I suppose you could try using them as rectifiers. But the voltage drop might be a little high, they have filamentary cathodes (you'll need a separate, well insulated winding for these), they gobble 12.5W of filament power each, and require a top cap, exposing HV above the chassis.
Enough reason for me to reach for a few 1N4007s.

Hmm, 1N4007 is not so decorative as 1616 tubes.
If 1N4007 glov like tubes they only do it in a few milliseconds. 😀
