can anyone tell me the purpose of that network in a cable and what influence it has?

The real howler: 12k$ for a speaker cable.....
 
Its a filter network. Oddly, it works by taking stuff OUT of the signal. You pay more, you get less!!!

pfft. Much better to put a Bybee quantum in the line. Better still if you use two, one on each wire. So thats four, except if you are running a HT system, in which case its 12, or possibly 16.

More is better, especially when you are talking transfer of wealth from one audioph..l to a certified nuclear secret holding Bentley driver.
