Ok! I know this has been talked about before and the answer
was no but I decided to try this anyway. My results were different.

Using a 140v ac source and a choke input filter using the .7h
inductance of a 50va power transformer I measuerd 202vdc
without a load. Then with a 500 0hm load I measured 125vdv.
A 250 ohm load made it drop to 118v. The 140v ac transformer
has a source impedience of ~10 ohms and the dc resistance of
the transformer primary used as a choke was 13.8 ohms.

The expected result using 140v ac would be 140x.88 = 123.2v
- a couple of volts voltage drop across the diodes ect.
