To Custom or NOT To custom...

So I'm building an active speaker. The preamp is going to be custom and discrete (op amps, caps, etc.). The power section however I am torn on. From a design perspective, to get the best performance in things like SNR, THD+N, etc., which is the better option: full discrete, chip amp, or just get an evaluation board (ex: https://www.ti.com/tool/TPA3255EVM ) ?

I think it really depends on how much trouble you want to go through to get it working. Personally, id do a custom design because I CAN, if for no other reason. But everyone has their own priorities.
