How clear is the text at resolutions of 1024x768-1600*1200. I am really trying to keep my projector size down, and want to play xbox 360 and computer games on it. I would also like to be able to read ocassionally from it at higher resolutions. Is this at all possible? Thanks alot

from what I have read the lilliput is very easy to break down. I am thinking of getting the 8.4" hami tho because it has more lines of resolution than the lilliput, and by my calculations a 16:9 movie should use the same exact amount of pixels as the lilliput... so the hami it is for me "🙂 Just stoked the text can be read at 1024*768 that is very good news. So 780p is possible from a small screen and small projector. So can someone say cheap cheap cheap!! Heh, and my buddy just dropped 6k on a 72" hdtv... hes gonna be jealous when he sees my 300 dollar projector with a bigger screen.

jealous?

he should be pissed. unless he's really loaded. i have a cousin in law who is really loaded and everything to him comes down to what saves more time? In fact, he purposely spends tons more money on things like over-paying employees so he can trust them more which saves him time and hassle.

the 7,000 dollar choice saves alot of time and hassle if you got the cash.

agreed, however I unfortunetally dont know anyone who has loads of cash 🙁. The truth of the matter is I am jealous that my buddy could buy the tv, but I wont spend that kinda dough on a tv ever, unless I am making like an extra 20,000 a month or something, like I said never.

has anyone gotten the lilliput to display 800x480, i.e. in OSD it says resolution is 800x480 not 640x480 or 800x600. If so, how did you make it happend, I find this native resolution thing to be extremely difficult since there is no manual way to set the resolution in the OSD.

well i actually don't have a lilliput, i have an innovatek and powerstrip and nvidia tools don't work.

so far I have two clear images, 800x600 and 800x480(with adjusted timings), but the lcd is converting the 800x480 to 800x600. So it's squished with black bars on the top and bottom.

if I adjust the timings, the lcd will skip over to 640x480. it just refuses to do 800x480.

yeah, the innovatek has the same specs as the lilliput (at least the documentation says it has the same specs). However, in reality it does not support resolution up to 1600x1200. Maybe I just got a bad lcd...I'm pretty sure I'm going to return this thing because now my OSD is messed up after trying to display resolutions that it couldn't handle even though the documentation says it can.

wow that sux. Yeah, I would definetally send it back if it doesnt even do the resolutions its advertised too. Please keep us updated on how much of a pita it is to dael with those guys for returns. I am sure you have heard the horror stories of people ordering, so good to know you got your product!! I am hoping this thing really does the higher res's but I am going to wait to hear from you before i buy one. Good luck, and thanks

I bought a new graphics card, GeForce 6600GT and magically the innovatek lcd supports another resolution, 960x600 (converted to 800x600). With a bit of tweaking with powerstrip, this res looks almost as perfect as 800x600, but without any noticable squishing or stretching of the image. Fonts are not quite as readable in this res as 800x600 though.

I have decided to return this lcd and get a lilliput instead. The main reason is the screen noise which I can't get rid of entirely in any resolution and it bugs the (crud) out of me. If the screen noise wasn't there, I would be able to live with 960x600. The other reason is the lack of supported resolutions despite what the manual says it can do. If it would recognize and display its native resolution of 800x480, I would keep it in a heartbeat and just find a filter to deal the screen noise.

Also atrade, the manufacturers of lilliputs, innovateks and xenarc say their 7" VGA screens support up to 1600x1200 input, so 720p is supposed to be possible although the screen's physical resolution is only 800x480.

Hi there,
I am looking at installing a set of 7" monitors into my car for the kids. But iam really confused on resolution's. Could some one tell if there is and what the differance is between these 2 specs i have seen:
a) 16.9 aspect ratio 1440 * 234 resolution
b) 16.9 ratio 234*RGB*430 = 336960 points

What would good figures to look out for when desiding a purchase?

Many thanks in advance
Gaz

The two monitors you posted both have 336960 dots. The only difference is the way the specs are given They should read:

a) 16.9 aspect ratio 1440 * 234 dot resolution
b) 16.9 ratio 234*RGB*430 = 336960 points(dots)

They are simply counting the individual rgb in the a) specs and that is why you get a higher looking res... in reality they are exactly the same.

Cheers for that.
The next questain i guess is are they any good? Or should i be looking for something else.
Just want them to put in the back of the car on the headrest for the kids to watch dvd's. I would like them to be firly good.

Thanks Again

I have no clue as to rather they are good or not without seeing them. I can tell you that I used to work as a salesman in a car audio shop and some tv's were rather hard to see unless viewed from head on. I do believe in a car the brightness to be of the most importance for daytime viewing. Honestly you may be better off posting your specific lcd's in a car audio/video forum for more or in my case better experienced responses. Good luck
