Hey, does anyone know what the doping compound found on some soft-domed tweeters consists of(different substances from different OEM's?), how it is applied, and where it can be purchased?
Multiple searches at various forums of "tweeter doping compound" has little to offer. My guess is Honey, with added artificial flavorings.

"Say Nope to Dope and Ugh to Drugs!"

The doping compounds are usually proprietary mixtures. Commonly, for soft fabric domes, they're goopy vinyls dissolved in a carrier like carbitol acetate. There are rigid, more shellac-based ones for domes where hardness is desired.

Step one is to determine what you want the dope to do- is there a breakup that can be handled by stiffening? Or is there one which is best handled by damping? What's the acceptable added mass? There is no one universal answer any more so than there is a universal set of problems.
