I want to build the best amp possible, either chip amp or discrete. Problem is I'm limited to power supply. I will use Li-Ion battery of 7v3 1200mA. Any chip/circuit recommendation?
I would use a chip with Rail-toRail output.
Also you should use 4 Ohms or 2 Ohms speakers to get 1 Watt.
It is impossible if you use 8 Ohm.
To build a discrete is very difficult, if you want some 1 Watt output.
It is not impossible, but difficult.

This one can be used, I think:
OPA567

I guess so. Actually I'm limited by the battery, not the watt. I think 0.5W is still loud enough.
Or is it difficult to get an acceptable distortion? From what I have seen using 2 or 3 stage simple transistors, distortion is above 3%. This is too high compared to a chip amp but I don't know soundwise because that is probably second order. Need to try one to know and compare.
Why don't you try my sugestion? TDA2822M is verry cheap and easy to find, it's schematic is simple enough.. few minutes of soldering stuff and thet try it..
How about TDA2822M, bridge config?
Ah, I have plenty of that chip. Yes I will build the bridge version for comparison to get to the best one. Problem was/is there is a difference between the sample schematic and sample PCB, on the feedback arrangement;
and I don't know about bridge amp so I have no idea which one is correct (but I think the schematic is correct). Couldn't find time to ask question about the PDF. Maybe later.
What pcb? All you need is this
Okay I will ignore the sample pcb track from the datasheet

TEA2025 , also from STMicro but with better perfs than TDA2822M.
Yes, it was my favorite. I wasn't sure about the battery but now I think it will do. With 7v3 I think I need to zener it at 6v8 or so.
No need for regulation. Just connect it direct.
Hmmm good idea. I was afraid of supply voltage reduction during playback.

- The best 1W amp with 6v5 1A, anyone?
