Same title but different song, this is about Storm Katrina.

PS: I very much prefer Jimmie Driftwood's original to all covers including Lonnie's because it is the only one which hints at the pivotal role the French played supporting the USA in the 1812 war and thus avoiding the Americans being comprehensively defeated. Every subsequent cover skipped the last two verses for some reason.

Interesting! I had a search and discovered that Jimmie Driftwood's original version was entitled "The battle of New Orleans".

It seems Lonnie shortened both title and song! :)

I do like this verse which was omitted in Lonnie's version:

Well, we marched back to town in our dirty ragged pants,
And we danced all night with the pretty girls from France;
We couldn't understand'em, but they had the sweetest charms,
And we understood'em better when we got'em in our arms.
