Today i received a package in the mail from a friend in germany who was gonna throw this old amp away, i couldent stand seeing that happen so i paid shipping and had it sent to me.

The amp is a Telefunken HA900, gooling for it brings up a few threads on a polish forum with ppl wanting schematics and such for repair, and there is one single picture to be found, a small thumb nail.

This amp was made in Berlin Germany in a joint venture with JVC and Telefunken i've been told. It's rated at 100/150 watts per channel in 8 ohms with 835 watts drawn from the mains.

The amp works fine but due to its age and beeing stored for 10 years, i'm reluctant to wire it straight to the mains, i tested it with a 60 watt light bulb in series ans kept it on for a few hours. Since this thing is so rare, i'm gonna keep it alive and sometime recap it to prevent failure from dried up lytics.

The repairs were made approx 20 years ago due to a cracked main board, likely caused by throwing it into a garbage bin at one point.

The dc offset is 0.00mV on both channels which in modern amps is unheard of.

That IS a modern amp :)
Looks good for parts - a couple of decent heatsinks, transformer, etc.
The damage to the amp board would make me uneasy and I probably just strip this of it's usable parts.
Re-capping is often not necessary. Chances are very good that all of the el-caps in that unit are still in great shape.

These spring clips are terrible

I do hate them too.

There are more options..some fake gold units are pretty too.

regards,

Carlos
