Hi members
after modding a bass management module and connected into the TDA8950 subwoofer amplifier module, the subwoofer can now deliver more lower and powerful bass
but now i start to run into another problem ... the TDA8950 module always give a loud thump when turn off now ... the module has onboard muting relay that delay about 10sec when start up and release as power is turned off ... but if i didnt connect the bass management circuit to the TDA8950 module it will behave nicely turn off in silence mode ... but if i were to connect back the bass boost module this turn off thump will happen and it is quite annoying 😱😱
if i add the muting at the line level will it eliminate the thump? thanks

It's most likely the management module spitting out garbage as it shuts down.
If you have an oscilloscope get it on the line between the module and the amp, see what's going on.

ok i dont have an oscilloscope here ... if i connect a multimeter at the bass management module if it reads a large voltage swing then that is the problem? if muting is need to be done at line level using relay how do i do it? by shorting the op-amp output by using the normally open contact or disconnect the output of the op-amp to the amplifier by using the normally open contact? thanks

Most likely the pulse is occuring right at the moment of shutdown, before the amp's muting cuts in... kind of sneaking through the cracks, as it were.
To offer you good advice, I would need to see the interaction at shutdown. It might be as simple as increasing the storage time of the power supply with a big cap for the module, to keep it active until the amp mutes. Or it might be rather complicated.
In this case I would suggest you contact a technician in your area and let them have a look...
