TDA7498 ?

ok ,I am doing another amp project using 7498's,i need to verify how to parallel bridge one of the boards to mono @ 200 Watts for a sub woofer now I know to parallel left output to right output and left to right input,Correct? Is that all I need to do to combine the 100 watts into 200 watts.

Look at Questions and Answers, at the bottom

2x100W TDA7498 Class-D Amplifier Board

Yes I have already seen that no answer there just says it is already bridged which I know.I know how to parallel the 7492 was thinking the 7498 may be the same.there is a guy By the name of Trevor he has lots of experience with the 7498,but I do not know how to get in touch with him he is probally on this forum but I cant find his user name.

for posterity, any one needing to PBTL you parallel output and tie left and right input.that is a complete PBTL. Got my Tda7498 done and it is driving those woofers like a Ferrari.I think I will get a 7498E version to drive my main speakers or maybe a 200x2 7498,I need to find out if the E is same characteristics as the reg version.

Sorry can you explain more how to do it??? (if possible scheme)

Thanks!!!!!

just a little follow-up on this topic : someone asked about the PBTL configuration on the st.com forum, and got this answer, from ST staff I believe :
for TDA7498, we do not recommend to parallel the BTL output to get more output power .
to provide more application flexibility , we have a enhence version , part number is TDA7498E , thise device is capable to deliver 160W X2 @ 4 ohm load and 220W @3ohm load . you may find detail in below link.
looking at the 7498E datasheet, it is almost exactly the same as the regular 7498! the only difference I see (from the outside) is the presence of a MODE pin, and single GAIN pin, whereas the regular 7498 has got two GAIN pins (GAIN0, GAIN1).

So if anyone can provide feedback about this parallel connection on the regular 7498, that would be much appreciated! thanks

i bought this board: ebay 261508973205
but it never arrived and i didn´t get a refund or anything.
the seller claims that pbtl is possible with this board.
by the time i was still in hope that it would arrive i asked him how to do it.
the first replies were quite unfriendly, but i didn´t give up and asked again and again.
so i got this answer:

sorry for reply later, my engineer leave office, i just contact him to get answer :
in parallel mode, need use wire connect output 1+ position to output 2+ position, and then connect to the 1 pole of speeker ;
and also use wire connect "output 1-" position to "output 2-" position . and then connect to 1 pole of speeker.
i have added 1 picture to listing, you can find the first picture.

pls try, any question, pls tell me.

best regards!

do not buy from this guy!!!!

i saw different tda7498 (without E) offers that claim that paralleled outputs would be possible, if the the input voltage is below 24v.

right now i own only one tda7498 board (ebay 181516024969) which costs only 11€ and sounds awesome for that price.
actually it sounds better than a slightly modded red yj tpa3116.
i did a listening comparison with the sure tpa3116 in stock form.
there was no clear winner, so i have to continue that at daytime when i can turn volume up a little bit more.

i´m looking to get a better than the cheapo black board as the tda7498 chip seems really promising.
does anyone have experience with these chips?

Buehgemeiste,
can you provide more follow-up on the board you bought ?
you tested it at high volume ?

Personnally, I intend to buy an amplifier board for a DIY musical instrument amplifier (that is, no Hi-Fi really), do you think yours would do the job ?

Thanks !

Wieslaw (I assume this is your first name)

I have read those threads already, very interesting indeed.
However, can you please help me find out,
to what extent those threads you posted are relevant to the questions raised in THIS topic ?
I mean, I believe the whole thing is about using a TDA7498 amplifier board with mono ouput.

Thank you !

The way I see it, you can't bridge TDA7498 to have a mono output. Trevor adressed that too, I think.

You're right, TDA7498 outputs can't be bridged as they already are, inside the chip. It's all understood.

However, what I doubt and would like to find out is whether it's possible to parallel the outputs. So as to get twice the output current. Whether or not this is possible, I am also interested in why is that so.

Anyone with knowledge and/or experience about this is very welcome 🙂
