TDA3116D2 blue board input caps: 2 or 4 ?

I have tried to read pages and pages of the main thread about the input caps but I think the thread grows too big and becomes really hard to search info from inside.

Based on the Wiki, there are two input caps (one for L, one for R). But someone mentioned there are actually 4 of them. I read the schematic on datasheet and the chip does use differential inputs and I noticed there are a total of 4x1uF caps. I haven't traced out the schematic on the blue board but I speculate the (-) inputs are connected to ground via the 1uF caps and those are the smaller blue ones. Then the two bigger 1uF blue caps are the main input caps (EPCOS).

The input pins on the chip have 3V on it so caps are necessary. I think this is the reason causing power on pop when the volume pot is not all the way down when power on the amp.

OK, so when you mod the input caps, do you change all four of them or just the bigger EPCOS? I think if the (-) input, even connects to ground via the other 1uF providing signal return path, isn't it supposed to be changed as well to match the big ones, especially if you want to improve bass ?

For those who has change input caps, can you share your experience ?

Tks.

In fact there are 4 input caps, 2 for each channel, all inputs caps should be the same, but in the blue board, I guess they used smaller caps for the same reason I did, to save space.

Yes, If you change the input caps, you should change for at least for same value so all four are matched, check the datasheet as there is table where it shows wich valúes to use depending of the gain setting.

I already read the data sheet therefore I know there are 4 input caps. I do agree they should be all the same and match because the two on the (-) pins of the differential inputs are for signal path return and will affect sound quality or freq response if different then the two big ones.

I want to know if anyone has changed ONLY the two big ones and what results are you getting ?
