I have a failed 2SK3850 Fet in the power switch on circuit of a Yamaha RX-497 stereo amplifier. It is a general switching Fet but it's going to take a few months to get one from China so I'm wondering if anyone knows of an easily available substitute that I can use in its place? I've tried to copy & paste the 2SK3850 datasheet but it wont work?

600V 0.7A, 14 ohms, 15W, 4nC - shouldn't be hard to search for that kind of spec at mouser/digikey/element14. Modern devices will have much lower on-resistance though.
Worth trying to find one with lowest total-gate-charge though as this will be higher for modern devices, 4nC TGC is low and the drive circuit may require this.
Not sure what the package is though, the datasheet says TP and it looks similar to TO220 but without a mounting hole?

BUK-444 range up to 800V switching Mosfet .
Same basic range .
TO220IS
Semiconductor: BUK444/600B (BUK 444/600B) - N-CHANNEL MOSFET... - US$ Site

I don't know how to search for the specs at Mouser Digikey etc... that's why I'm asking here? The package is TO225 but a TO220 can be made to fit.

I live in Australia so the price for this transistor will be $65 from that site but I will look up some Australian sites that have it! Thanks mate!
In case you cant get that one in Australia click on ----
Element 14 (Au) for -
STF2HNK60Z-
More up to date low R-on specially for switching applications .if they are out of stock use that type to check elsewhere in Australia .

Please post the relevant schematic section to see what it actually does.I have a failed 2SK3850 Fet in the power switch on circuit of a Yamaha RX-497 stereo amplifier. Just read the datasheet, meager 1W dissipation and low current makes me presume it does not switch mains power by itself ... does it switch a relay?
