Supravox 215 vs PHL 2540

I choose the midrange driver with high efficiency (higher 95dB) for work in the most critical and meaningful vocal sound range - from 200 - 300 Hz to 4 - 5 kHz or more.
I'm planning that this driver will work in a sealed box and with Beyma TPL 150 and with two 12 "AE Speakers woofers.
Some of the candidates has Supravox 215 RTF64 (GMF) and PHL 2540 (2520).

What are the opinions about my choice? If I do not mistake?

not sure than the PHLs' can be used so low ! Fs ? Look at the Phl curve arounf 1k hz too ?! Need a hard work with baffle step and load...

Supravox... well, you hav to measure it... concistency due to an artisanal work...

Their 13 cm is excellent !

look at the work of Zaph : he measure one ! All PHL (and Audax, cause i think the boss is an ancient tech director of Audax's research) have the same problem a problematic bump near 1000, 1200 more and less.

Think they worth for the money as Zaph wrote. But maid for professional sound systems (with hifi feeling). Not sure they are worry as you or me about these things.

The surface treatment are good and near the same as Audax aerogel : very good.

But as I said hard to work with them : for big guy, i never try myself.

Supravox, Audax have the same problem : they become artisans and build on demand...more or less. Sometimes Consitency problems with measures. But good brand and serious philosophy.

Look at too at he serious old Fertin which new brand name is ElectromagnetSpeakers : EMS: Artisanal but very serious, Japanese style : humble but you don't learn anything to him ! Take care with the impedance... tubes addict !

Thanks a lot! I watched products EMS. But I did not see the drivers that will work in a sealed box.

Hi MurphyThe Cat,

And not expensive for the quality. Good sound reputation.

Nearer to the Supravox for the non coated paper, nearer to the PHL for the non wide band aspect.

Fs could be problematic. Murphy use 400 hz if I remember.😉
