Of the concerts I've seen in the last few years, David Byrne was excellent and blew me away.

How many seconds into Killing in the Name Of would they get before the network hits the panic button......but then, I never would have believed they would let the RHCP on that stage.

The half time show was the only part of the game that I didn't watch. It looked and sounded like noise, so we left the Super Bowl party at halftime, got home 2 minutes into the 3rd quarter, and the game kept my interest till the end.
This was also the first complete NFL game that I have watched in 3 or 4 years. lately the NFL like Nascar is best watched in the 10 minute game recaps on YouTube....if at all.
The last halftime show I watched was the RHCP.....I wondered how they would tame their act enough for big time TV.

I watched some of it. It was pretty bad, so it's a good thing you left when you did. The best part was Shakira doing her take on a Spongebob battle cry.😀

I'm not a football guy (I don't even really know how it works... shame on me), but the half-time show is always fun to watch from a production standpoint, regardless of artists.
I have not had time to watch this year's show yet. As far as pop artists go, Shakira is probably towards the top of my list.
Foo Fighters or Garbage are both fun and would be high on my list, as would Fleetwood Mac if they could get their act together.

I wouldn't know who she, or any of today's pop stars were if I passed them on the street.
I did see them once (Buckingham - Nicks version) but it had to be late 70's or early 80's.
There isn't much of what's called pop that interests me today, it just all sounds the same.
I give Dave Grohl a lot of credit for surviving the Nirvana years, and repurposing himself as a guitar player / singer. I have watched a lot of videos, but never seen them live.
I don't know the attendance numbers, but with that in mind i'm convinced some ACDC would make the players and staff think twice about going on with the rest of the game. 😉
I was at the Super Bowl in 2019 the half time show was totally boring. Nothing challenging or controversial will ever be allowed.
