I am working on this Sundown audio amplifier and the previous owner had worked on it before I purchased it. Apparently could not get it working.
Just wondering if the power supply originally used IRFP064N's?
That's what is in there, and the reason I ask is with even a single power supply FET in place, as soon as 12V and ground are connected to the amp I get a ton of current draw. Dead short.
With all of them removed I get no draw at all. This is with no remote power connected at all.
Just wondering if they may be the wrong FETs. Not sure why that would cause this symptom, but just double checking.
Any idea other than the wrong part# that might cause what I am describing?
There seems to be no reverse voltage protection, diode(s), so that isnt the issue. And it wouldnt matter of the FETs were in place in that case anyways.
