I've built a suitcase boombox using the popular Lepai LP-2020A+ 25W amplifier and some speakers that I poached from an old Technics SB P1000 speakers. This is my first build, and frankly I'm learning as I go. (First time using a soldering gun...Woot!)
I have a question about the power supply. I'd like to install, like others I've seen on the web, a 12v battery so that I can take the boombox on the go. I bought a standard 12V 7ah sealed lead acid battery, and a Powersonic PSC-12800A charger. I'm really not sure how to wire up the battery and charger. It seems from others online that I can wire this so that the battery and charger are "in-line" so that when it's plugged into the wall it will power the amp and charge the battery at the same time. Any advice on how I should approach this or online links would be appreciated.
I tried to insert photos here, but I guess I'll settle for attaching them...
Thanks...
Todd

Hey Seattler! I've built a few similar projects like the one you have here. I don't really think there is a way to use a power supply to power the amp AND charge the battery.. But you can run the amp from the battery alone, then have a charger/controller like this one here. I've used them and they seem to work really well.
