Looking for cabinet suggestions for my golds, I would like to try something other than the suggested ported reflex and stay away from complicated autograph. Size is no real concern, I have a large living room with vaulted cielings, but would prefer a small footprint, or better put hight and depth are no concern but would like to stay narrow if posable. I can build them I just cant design them. Any input is appreciated. Thanx
If you exclude horns and exclude reflex loaded cabinets, you have few, if any, options open to you.
Adding to the bad news, narrow front baffles will diminish the subjective upper bass / lower midrange power which is a shame because it's something big woofers do particularly well.
OK, this is a reflex loading, but comes from Alex Garner.
A great starting point!

The 75 l box looks fine, but 150 l box will be impossibly boomy. That's not the way you want to do an EBS box. It is tuned much too low. Assume a 6dB/octave room lift below 100 Hz. Now add that to the curves in the link. This gives a huge peak at 35 Hz for the 150 l box. Yes, it goes low, but it will be boomy and loose. What you want to see is a gradual slope to cut-off. Room lift will flatten out the in-room response.

I am not ruling out horns, would just like to stay away from real complicated ones. I guess the rec grf is simple enough but I seem to remember people speaking not so highly of them. Somewhere I read on here about some TQWT cabs for golds by scottmoose but he did not really elaborate on them. My original post was just prefferances not a must.
