suggestions for retrofitting drivers in the EV Aristocrat cabinets

Are there any reasonably priced current production FR drivers that will work in the EV Aristocrat corner loaded cabinets ?
I can easily make a new baffle to accomodate size.
I have one EV 12 FR with whizzer cone in great shape, but looked for the last few years on ebay for a partner for it and never saw one like it .
If I had a mono setup or played 45's and 78's it would be perfect but don't do either.
It doesn't have a coaxial tweeter like the TRXB , just the whizzer .
It's a 60's model with the large whitish grey cast heavy frame.

I had a EV 12 SPB but that had a rubbing voice coil .
I scratched the idea of using vintage and want to use something in production and affordable as it's not my main listening setup .
The Pioneer BOFU seemed like a possible option but it's been OOP for quite while now and the GRS version seems not as "good" as the Pioneers'reputation.
Not sure of the Aristocrat interior size in liters or cu.ft.

thanks

Look for 12TRXB specs: ~ 45 Hz Fs, 167 L Vas, 0.665 Qts or whatever gets you a T/S max flat alignment in the ~776 - 897 L/27-28 Hz Fb range.

Seems strange/counterintuitive, but when coupled to a period correct high output impedance, the motor is too weak to load this way too small cab, so the driver's specs basically get acoustically modified to 'fit'.

When it comes to creating a synergistic audio system, especially 'on the cheap', the pioneers didn't leave much 'on the table' for later folks to invent.

(a thicker baffle would help - mine modulated) Beta12LTA should play, all I have for a graph is one taken outdoors and without a "corner" which would lower fb - -on the cheap a Visaton BG20 may work.

this is the old-spec Eminence B102 with lower q and more midrange output

the B102 seems a bit more resonance free... recently I saw the Beyma 12AG50... might have a look on that one ... it's a high Qt driver

I would have bought them, yet was a bit expensive...:-(

I don't like the sound of the BG20 ... however :-( for outdoor applications might be ok, but sounds "a bit" aggressive and cold... (I sent them back) as a guitar speaker it's fine...

for some reason B20 is dirt cheap in the US - what guitar, styles and effects did you use with B20?

I've not seen that narrow 1K5 peak in my other 12LTA graphs.

B102 had a magnet and surround change some years back - its now pretty much just a woofer and not and not an extended one - oddly enough, the new B102 would make in the range it has, a rough match for BOFU/B20

here's the old B102 vs the current model - I think the new one might work in a small Karlson with ~2K crossover to compression driver
and K-tube

Hi , just updating a 2 month old thread to note I remembered I had a pair of Audio Nirvana CF 12's in boxes in my closet.
Fitted them to the EV Aristocrat cabs.
I used 3/4" Baltic Birch to make a new baffle and added a 1/4 " BB stained cover.
Also routed out dadoes on the new baffle in so the original cabinet baffle edge pieces would still fit on .

Thanks for the member that posted the advice to use a thicker baffle than the OEM .5 inch . the original did seem not substantial enough so this was an improvement .

The AN's are a bit challenged by the 2.8 ft. cabs in our music room downstairs and the EV Aristocrat is even smaller but hey , the price was right !
They sound good as corner horns in our smallish upstairs dormer room .

I do like the AN's but our living room just isn't big enough for a 4 or 5 cu. ft. cabinet .
