hi all,
I have acquired some Sprague atom caps - these are electrolytic polar axial caps.
Could someone comment on how they are for audio? How do they compare with other more renowned electrolytic caps?

Sprague atom's are quite renowned themselves.
I never use electrolytics for signal coupling, but for power supplies and de-coupling I use Sprague atom's frequently. They are a very good quality electrolytic capacitor.

Very good in their day, but that was quite a while ago and their day has been over for some years now. A new cap from almost any reputable maker will be better in every way than a 20+ year old electrolytic.
Their old slogan- "Don't be vague, ask for Sprague!"

What Conrad said.
Also, electrolytic capacitors have a relatively-short shelf life. The electrolyte dries out.
I would not use a >= 20-year-old electrolytic for anything, even if it were unused. I would only use new, just-produced electrolytics.
