Spawn of Frugel-Horn

Hey grew,

when is the next scheduled update to the PLANS page, there are several changes spread in many threads and it is getting hard to track...

one example is the change in angle of the stepped deflector of the Hiro and Sachiko. Which was 5 inches from the internal top panel and is now recommended to be 3 inches from the internal top panel if I got it right. I don't even recall if the deflector length changed.

Next major update will be when it happens... i am at the moment getting further behind every day, Help is coming thou (Daniel starts in a week or 2 -- needs to getthe tranny in his jag to make the migration)

I don't recall any changes to Sachiko since 1v01. Angled strike plate starts 6" back from the mouth and is 5" tall at the other end.

So if I understand that instead of the original 6" back from the mouth and is 5" tall at the other end, we now suggest:

6" back from the mouth and is 2"(=5-3) tall at the other end.

That is a surprise... (i guess Scott figured i wa somni-present). What is not totally clear is whether the mod to the strike plate is in general or specifically for the eSR (i'm guessing the latter).

This mod would make the top of the strike plate at the back 8" up.

Hi Dave,

looking at your new picture above, I now see that I understood the exact opposite, you are showing 5+3=8 and not 5-3=2 as I thought, so we wanty a more obtuse angle...ok got it this time.

Thanks Scott for clarifying that it was for esr, I had missed that as well...

thanks to both for your patience and for sharing all this.

Harvey subwoofer

Hi all,
I'm just finishing Harvey (with FE126E, really wonderfull, many thanks to Scott and Dave) a I'll need a subwoofer - that is what I intended from the beginning. Maybe a little OT but I've a pair of Peerless 831858 (http://www.madisound.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=8184) and played a bit with MJK's worksheets and thought about something like this (BVR?):

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

I just want something that looks and sound as much as "coherent" with Harvey. Would that work? I would cross it over at about 80Hz / 24dB/oct.

Wiring Harvey and cabinet fill

Hi All: I am getting ready to glue up the Harvey cabinet and before I glue myself into a corner was wondering if some suggestions could be made around wire routing and chamber fill...

I would like to wire using DNM solid core wire http://www.dnm.co.uk/cables.html

and was planning to route the cable through the throat of the CC and attach to some Eichmann Cable Pod binding posts between the throat and corner brace. Given there is a web between the conductors is this too much of a restriction for good flow?

The second question concerns filling the open cavities above the CC and corners. Is it prefered to leave this space empty or stuffed with expandable foam as shown in Harvey builder's thread?

Thanks for your help!

Please post your treatment of the CC. With my tests I've gone from
stuffed on four sides to stuffed on the 2 parallel sides with vent
and baffle area untreated.

Some pics would be great.

Eichmann Connectors

I used a pair of the Eichmann speaker connectors a few years ago and they failed.
Seems the threaded part failed and stripped out. I had to replace them. I now use the Audio Note jacks...
I do not know if the Eichmann product has since been fixed. I do Love their RCA jacks.
FYI....
