Hi CARLOS , MIKEKS and all diyAudio members.

I have uploaded the service manual of this power amplifier on

http://fileshare.eshop.bg/

click and search for n55es.

All people can download the S.M. for free.(DOWNLOAD ALL THE TWO PARTS ,file is .rar)

I know this power amplifier because I had repaired two times two differents models.
It was considered a good amp on the Sony ES series, but I'm not sure.
A Sanyo power pack is the voltage amp,the N-55ES has some stability problems,it is not able to drive a loudspeaker less than 4.5 Ohms, the distortion, very good at low frequencyes ,will increase from 2 KHz.This amp has a very high amount of NFB...

Hi, Mikeks,

There's something I don't understand about this Sony TA-N55ES schematic.
Look at "inside" of IC301 (STK3102III). At the VAS. It is cascoded, but if it is a cascode, shouldn't the cascode transistor is PNP?

In the schematic, it is NPN, it is static voltage in pin10, how can it get audio swing voltage?

Thank you TVI and Parsecaudio...now i have the schematic...Johndiy

Johndiy....i use to download many schematics at
www.schematicforfree.com

It works for free and not for free too (better with payment naturally)

There are also our forum friends sites, where you can download a lot of good schematics.... as a good example:

www.audio-circuit.dk

this one that you could find using the link provided by Parsecaudio is one of the best ones...and this is really for free.

One more option, the one i use constantly, is to type in Google search:

Audio amplifier schematics

And following each link you will have thousands of schematics, many of them repeated in some home pages.

By the way...is really John your name?...ahahahaha!

regards,

Carlos😀

CASCODE AND CURRENT MIRROR

Hello lumanauw
in the first stage of STK the PNP transistors are not a cascode but a current mirror circuit,in order to make a balancing voltage across the input differential.
In the second stage you are right:there is an error in the original Sony schematic, but NOT in the STK datasheets:the two transistor of the cascode must to be a PNP type.
Look at the datasheet (the internal circuit are the same for all the 31xx mk3 Sanyo STK series)
