I have seen so many threads/sites on the nview spectra C...these are noob questions, bear with me please..

1) It is said to be vga-compatible....(not svga?) Will this work with modern PC's output, all 640x480 apps that you throw at it?

2) Does ~200,000 colors show a huge difference from 1.4M?

3) How many colors does the Spectra C have?!? I have seen everywhere from 256 to 1.4M!

Thanks for listening to the noob. I hope to contribute something. DIY is my fav stuff, but I'm learning the electronics still.

Thanks,

Hey,

welcome to the forum.

1) The res of the panel is 640x480, so it's good enough for many people. It will show anything from a computer in 640x480 res and I've heard that it will also show a cropped 800x600 image. The problem with this is that many computer's are beginning to support 800x600 minimum without the use of programs such as Powerstip I think. But yes, anything 640x480 from a computer will show.

2) 200,000 colors is much below 1.4million, which in turn is far below the amount of colors in a DVD (16million +) Some people think a Spectra C is good enough color wise but it depends on the person. I'll include a photo of a Spectra C in action from an older topic in this forum. I can't remember though 🙁 who's it is, only that it was in a '3dog theatre now open' thread.

3) I'm not sure 🙁 There were two different models released, one with vga in only the other with vga in and tv in, I think they had different color amounts. But I think it was either 200,000 + or 1.4mil.

Hope this helps

Oops, forgot the pic... 🙄

THANKS

Thanks for the reply, Yep you're right, I guess it only makes sense that there would be two models of the spectra, that's why i was seeing so many differing stats. The screen you showed me was from a panel with all kinds of inputs, see picture. So I guess it's safe to say 1.4 million is a minimum?

Also, is this the kind of effect you get with ~200,000 colors + DVDs?

Last question, promise, does the MediaPro have different twin brother model as well, or are they all the same? he one I am looking at has 4 input sources. How many colors does that one have? (It's not here: http://members.cox.net/rolm/results.html)

Thanks for all the helP!!!
