Soekris 1021 build need help

I just completed my 1021 build and I'am having a problem....it locks fast and solid to my cd player spdif dig out but it won't lock with my window's based pc server. All other dac's I've used commercial or diy have always locked to the server without issue. Lost

My set up
Windows 7 pc server with Spdif directly off motherboard
Soekris 1021 using diy spdif interface from user's manual
No preamp direct to amp

cd player locks fast and and dac works perfectly

locking depends upon the quality of the digital signal so use a good sound card like xonar d2x which has decent optical output.
