I need a schematic for a SMPS to power a ZAPPulse. Does anyone know some designs or reference designs??
Maybe a nearly finished one...?
I use a 150W halogen lamp smps, availble from Reichelt (Art-#: EL-TRAFO 150VA, EUR 20,90). The things to change are to lift one pin of the thermistor (I think, could also be a varistor) between prim and sec. and put the 4 sec.-windings in series or rewire the whole secondaries (only a few turns needed to get higher voltage) to get the right voltage. Then a full bridge rectifier with high speed diodes and good caps, you have it. Haven't tried to use more than one smps yet (the single one is enough to fire my 1 ohm scintilla very nicely), so don't put the ACs together as switching freq is not sync'd.

I have been working on zero voltage switching designs. If nothing else, they seem to be efficient. Those halogen lamp supplies may take advantage of that principle. I know florescent lamp drivers do.

I`m using this. There is also another thread in this class D forum that discusses the optimization/debugging of that supply.
