SMPS choice with 110/230v input

Hi all,

I am planning to build an amp based on the ddx320 board, but I have a hard time choosing the smps.

I know the connex smps300rs 28V would probably be the best for this amp, but I have to choose between the 120v and 230v version. I currently am in France (so 230v) but planning to move to Canada by the end of the year (so 110v).

I could get a meanwell and be done with it, but it's huge and then leads to compromises on the amp casing I'd prefer not make.

So, is it possible (and easy?) to get a connex smps in either voltage and then mod it to change the input voltage range?

Thanks!

It seems I found my answer, there is a jumper to set when operating at 110v (230v by default), so good news 🙂

However now I must decide between smps300rs, smps300re, or 500 version (new version but dual rail). Is the RE version better than the RS when only 1 rail is used (also, is that possible? or both rails must be used simultaneously?).

The guy that owns and runs Connexelectronics is a complete fruit cake. He is consistently condescending to people, blows promises/schedules, and has bogus CE marks (lookup 'Chinese Export' symbols on the web). Besides the power supplies would never make UL here in the states because of safety issues. We'd recommend going with a real SMPS supplier like Hypex, which has real CE markings with proper safety design (because they have real engineers designing them).
