I would like to re-install the original tonearm-lift, which was replaced by thorens's front-"switch".
I have the lever and was able to insert it, but it seems something is missing:
The lever can be rotated 360° (there's no upper/bottom stop), and the tone-arm literally falls down, there's no "break".

Oh wow, this seems to be it!
I found another one BTW: https://audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/sme-3009-series-2-cueing-dashpot-cleaning.916950/
Let’s see how far I‘ll come with it.

I getting on in my very own, s-l-o-o-w way…
Got some correct oil, and SME sends me a securing ring (ha! An original securing ring from SME!), so I think this will get me started…
Until now, I‘ve been sitting in front of the turntable, contemplating the tonarm removal… (ahem)

I also do something similar before a change and I let go of thoughts and make a mental lineup of the steps.Until now, I‘ve been sitting in front of the turntable, contemplating the tonarm removal…
I can do the above even without being in front of the piece...
Hoping for your full success, keeping your time!
P. S.: To get an original spare part is always a particular moment and reading your comment it comes to my mind that having always used Plextor CD/DVD drives then a day an internal rubber belt was broken and they did not want to send me a spare part (that I wantedl to pay of course), but they demanded that I bring it to service.
I think I would still have the e-mail saying that I would never again buy the Plextor brand, but then I did again.
Are SME still around? Would be even nicer to be able to send the arm back to the factory for a full service.
It just seems so.SME sends me a securing ring
But - unless it is broken - servicing it by yourself would give you pleasure and satisfaction that cannot give you to return it to the factory. IMHO
P. S.: Just as a small example, ages ago I replaced by myself the broken belt (sure, a tonearm is a bit more complex) of the Plextor drive (they were always in pairs) mentioned above buying on eBay an envelope full of rubber belts of various sizes avoiding that way the demanded servicing.
I also replaced belts to the drive that showed no flaws...

Agree to what @ulogon says, and yes, SME are still arount and responsive.
(I guess, by the response I got, that they would take care of old gear? Well and if not, there’s still gifted shops who do that, although €€€—schopper.ch is one, analog tube audio is another)
If you’re patient, I will report my progress, but I‘m a sloth!
