I just picked up a modified pair of these at a garage sale for 5 bucks for the pair! They have the original case (nice and ugly white fabric 😀) and the original tweeter. But, the 10" woofers were replaced with PYLE brand speakers. It's a 10" paper cone with foam surround and a dust cap with just the word "PYLE" on it.
They sound very good especially for the age (except I feel the high-frequency responce is lacking without an EQ to boost the treble), and the bass is very good, but I want a little more. What I want to do is add a port to the back of them to help boost bass response.
The box is roughly 20" tall by 12" wide by 9" deep.
Can I add a port to the back of it tuned to around 40-60hz, and if so, what size would you recommend? I am almost thinking of getting an adjustable port and adjusting until I get it right, but I'm not sure how well that would work.
Thanks!

That cabinet size is probably too small for a ported 10 so you'd get a mid-bass boost but loose deep bass. You could try experimenting with varying amounts of polyfil to see if the bass improves any.
Look inside to see what's used in the x-o. If they use electrolic caps on the tweeter, replace with some metallized polypropylene ones of the same value. This should brighten up the high's.

thanks for the suggestions. I'll check the x-over, but I'm not sure what I will find in it.
With the box it's in what do you think would be the best frequency i could tune to with a port?

Yoy need to have at least the speakers Qt, Fs, and Vas as well as the boz size... anything else is likely a guess.
