SL1210 plinth adventure

Hi All,
My friend Mauro (mauro2098) and I, after Jim's mods on PSU, decided, inspired by Ken's superb work, to follow his path.

We started buying a cheap SL1200 top plate chassis:



Next step, filling the holes and make all borders square with alu-like epoxy plaster:





And finishing with epoxy car plaster:









Mauro has done a very nice work

Time to choose the veneer:



Mahogany, walnut or ash burl?

This will look much nice than the stock Technics. What tonearm will you be using?

It does look good. I've never been a fan of the stock SL-1200 looks at all. Get the AudioMods tonearm, this deserves it.

I do have experience with Audiomods (this is my friend Benny's table), but none with Origin Live new tonearms.
What do you think about Onyx arm?
The alternative would be my beloved Jelco used 750 (or 370H) toearm that has the plus of detachable headshell.

The Art of Sound forum collectively loves the Jelco on the -1200. I have one for a future SP-10 project and can’t directly relate it’s sound, but I have high expectations and no information other than it’s absolutely fantastic.
