The plan is to cut everything from 70-80HZ and below from OB speakers and use single OB Subwoofer in V frame (the one in Linkwitz 521), but built with GR Research servo 12" drivers. I decided to go with V frame as it would be smaller than H frame. I could also put a grid in front and make it look like a box.
This OB would be used in mono setup, and as a single source for low frequencies.
What are my options in regards to its placement? Next to one of the speakers, in between the speakers, somewhere else in the room as long as it is not next to the wall?
Or it can be placed next to the side wall as long as it is not set next to the front wall?

You place your sub in listening position first, then you walk around the room and listen and preferably measure the bass response as well. When you find best spot, that's where your sub should go. Or you simply place it where your wife tells you to 🙂
I once tested a dozen locations around the end of my room with a sealed box - using REW. Big differences.
Even more important to find the best place to tailor the wilder FR swings of your sub. It isn't crazy to make an OB sub but the art is to place right (and nobody should be without a DSP EQ such as the Behringer DCX2496).
