Would be two happy guys !I would prefer a tube based circuit!i thought you maybe wanted a low distortion sinewave generator....
sorry for hi-jacking the thread but if someone can point out some schematics for a tube-based sinewave generator for audio i would be a happy guy!
Thanks a lot
Do you something simple with SS ?Why tubes? Seems like a wate of time and energy (power). And .4% distortion, makes it useless for THD measurements (except maybe for speaker)
Thanks
why tubes?
-there is nothing more beautiful than a sinewave generated by tubes.
actually i am going to build this one:
Enter Code to Begin Download
a clone of Heathkit AO-1
Now i just have to dig out a 6SN7 and a 6X5 rectifier from the junkbox

Have you thought about this?

If you are after a quick test! Sine Square Triangle etc Sweep

True RTA is pretty cool, use it all the time. I used the schematic of one of the Velleman signal generator kits and made one. Has Sine, triangle and square waves at 1khz. Really simple to make i just cant remember what sight it was i got the schematic. but it was a pdf of the kit instructions so im sure you can find it online.

Why not refer to schematics of Hewlett-Packard 200A and its successors ? Here is the manual for you, it includes the schematic. Pure tubey retro goodness
Thanks, it is in fact a very nice project to build. To start i only have the 6V6 tube and the rectifier ,resistors and caps. not bad !Why not refer to schematics of Hewlett-Packard 200A and its successors ? Here is the manual for you, it includes the schematic. Pure tubey retro goodness![]()

Maybe someone out there has one to sell? Thanks, it is in fact a very nice project to build. To start i only have the 6V6 tube and the rectifier ,resistors and caps. not bad !

Could be even a different one! Heathkit?

In fact i had a cd with samples of sine waves recorded, with 20hz 100hz 1000hz and 10khz but i lost it . i want it to make some tests in my tube amp. put the signal in input and use a dual trace scope to see the signal in output and phase splitter, etc. but i wouldnt mind to have a nice tube audio tube generator, for fucture projects. How did we get from a download to a DIY thermionic contraption
For low distortion you won't beat a CD player/buffer and test CD. Limited to what's on the disc. I don't think you never mentioned what it was for.

OK then...
When download was mentioned at the start I assumed software to use on a PC, until I noticed the forum it was in.
For what it's worth I don't think you will beat a modern SS generator... ebay maybe ? unless you really really want tube that is.
Even something like this which is cheap and cheerful,

Good luck with it.

If you want to build something, an IC-based project is another idea (not tube, but you could use a tube amp?)
