Greetings,
Three days ago, I bought a used Sharp XGE800U and as the family gathered in anticipation to watch the big screen come to life - but after a few minor tests the day before and 30 solid minutes of watching time the screen, once alive with colors and visual, went white... and along with the input text and blue screen have not seen
the light of day again. So - I was hoping someone could help explain to me
what caused this and what if any suggestions you might have to repair this XGE800U with No Video and no control functions... If it is going to cost an arm and a leg, I might be putting this into the trash and count my losses. Please, any help would be appreciated.

What signal were you sending to it and how was it hooked up? The specs state that the only resolution it will accept is 640x480. Maybe it's a resolution compatibility issue.
It was hooked up via RCA cables from an xbox. I had tested it out using my dish system, connecting it via s-video. But now, nothing comes up at all.
Try it again on the dish system. If it doesn't work then the only option is to take it to a service center and have an estimate done on the repairs.
At what point should I wash my hands of it and try ebaying it? I payed about the same price for it as a new lamp - everything I have been able to find has parts ranging from $10 - $1,000+ (New LCD Panel). Any service places you might recommend? I have seen some that want $200+ just to take a look at it - and considering the thing weighs 40lbs.... shipping involved - well I am possibly looking at paying over the amount I did for the machine itself - thus totaling the amount to the price of a new machine (which mind you I don't have to repair it as of now anyway).... Overdramatic Sigh, my first venture into the LCD life cut short.... Haha.
