These are for sale for approx 550 dollars here in Norway:

Almost impossible to drive, and almost impossible and very expensive to refurbish. But van they be worth it at this extremely low price? He says he will throw them away if nobody buys them. But are they even worth it if free?
He has little information about them, he got them as partial payment for some stuff a few years ago.
And, can any FW iteration drive them? BBA3 monoblocks with cascoded FE and a bit higher rails, or F5T V3? Possible?
Found them at chance, needed some input, friends.

I asked, and he does not know the version (impedance), and he does not seem to want to find out. So in all cases a risky buy…
I don’t want to have a speaker that needs a Krell, and not many X600’s for sale around here.
But still, kinda intriguing.

Maybe you can go over and check them out.
Bring some money.
Early versions were 1 or 4 ohms, configurable.
Later versions were only 1R.

I will think it over, and possibly ask him to find out more. Bit of a long drive if to come home empty handed. Also, if I understand correctly, sensitivity drops to 73db/1m/1w if using the 4 ohm setting. So… no free lunch

Unless you already have a suitable amplifier, they are maybe not a great idea.
And they may need repairs. Here is an old thread, but it may or may not help.

Theres a guy in UK, rebuilds them. A guy local to me has Scintillas and Divas. Drives them a 600 watt Gryphon amp. Think his Divas are on ebay uk.
I think, at best in my specific case, they will end up being very fancy visually decorative elements, with sloppy ribbons and a couple of burnt fleawatts at the end of the speaker cables. Sort of Star Trek meets Dr. Strangelove.
Perhaps, if they are the 1 Ohm version, you might try an F5T version 3 with modest voltage power supply but massive current and lots of output transistors... My Scinnies worked well on 8 Hitachi laterals per channel in a Audio By VanAlstine Omega amp years ago. If you like the dipole sound, Grab the speakers if they are good and build an amp to drive them. DIY is the name of the game and a properly built F5Turbo should deliver. Read the entire article from Nelson Pass. with enough mosfets, the current drive is plenty.
My 2 cents.

Get them. Unless you consistently listen at loud levels whatever amplifier you have will drive them well enough to know if you like Planar speakers.
As for a big amp that would drive them, yes, a variety of F5Turbo could work, or a BA3, or a Stasis.
