Orion 250sx pop-top

OK, here is the story, amp board looks to be in great shape, at first it was blowing fuses, but I noticed some errant wire clippings must have made there way inside, so I pulled the board and dusted it off with a clean paint brush.

Pulled bypass cards, and installed known good ones.

Now it does not pop the fuses, but has a hum coming out of it with no speakers hooked up, and with speakers it amplifies the hum/hiss.

For virtually all of the Orion amps, the RCA shield is directly connected to the secondary center tap which is directly connected to the non-bridging speaker terminals. You appear to have an open ground.

What's the resistance from the non-bridging terminals to the main B+ terminal on the amp?

So just to clarify , the rca shield is the out side of the barrel. I know this is stupid I just want to make sure I am on the same page with you.

And the secondary center tap, must be a leg running inside the circuit board?

I will be out for a few days (of the office), but when I can get back, I will be back on this.

I also figure I should test continuity from the rca connection at the board back to both of the afore-mentioned points as the jacks so could have a weak joint ( just a thought)

And I will have an answer to your last question.

Yes, outer metal bell.

Center tap, See attached.

The RCA shield ground can break under the jack.
