I just bought a 2nd hand Rotel RCD855 with cmd4/19 transport.
After unpacking the drive wouldn't open (just a few cm). I opened the cdp and noticed the spring was loose in the case. I also found a broken pin. (see photo).
Probably damage from postage, because the seller was original owner and seems pretty trustworthy.
Anyway, looking for instructions/help how to fix this.

- how to disassamble the transport to get to the point where I can reach the spring
- how to fix the broken part, is there a replacement pin or are there any other fixes ?

The spring and white neoprene sleeve look like one of the four transport suspension assemblies that the laser pickup block sits on and it seems reasonable to suppose the plastic is going to be the support these slip over. It should not be to difficult to disassemble it all. Providing there is no other damage it should be fixable.
That is great information, thanks. Now I just need a little bit of help on how to fix it. Really appreciated.
That is correct, it was not locked with the screws from beneath.
Still looking on how to fix this.
Can I just 'fix the pin', or should I go search for a donor (or possibly new?) transport part?

I don't think the plastic pin does anything in normal use apart from preventing the spring moving out of place if the player is moved. I would just try sticking it. You could even drill it and screw it back I think.
Okay, that sounds do-able.
Now brace yourself for the ultimate newbie question.
Are there any instructions or helpfull tutorials / videos around which explain how to open the transport mechanism to come to the point where I can put the spring back (or even drill a bit).
(I never did this before, but the past learned me that I can learn pretty fast and have steady hands, so I think just a few extra directions will be enough for me to complete this tasks. Thanks again).

I haven't worked on those specifically but they are all similar and its usually a case of just stripping it all down which isn't as scary as it sounds.
Typically you might have to first open the drawer, unclip any trin from the front of the drawer and then close the drawer. Usually the front trim panel has to be unclipped and removed and then look for any screws securing the mechanism in place. These may be underneath or on top. Look for plugs/sockets to unplug the mech and be very careful with the flexiprint foil. Those pull out of the respective socket on the main board (some have a clip some don't) but do not bend or crease it.
Tbh I would have thought there was enough wiggle room to do this without major dismantling, or at least just loosen any securing screws enough to get a few more mm acess.
Not having it in front of me means I can't tell you exactly what to do but it should be very straightforward.
