If the power supply fets were shorted what drop in could I use? 3205's? Or IRFZ44? There's one on ebay that I want to get the seller says it doesn't put out sound. And are those series of RF amps hard to repair? Btw does anyone have a pic of what the guts look like? And one more question is it similar to a RF Punch 360a2?
I use 3205s in most of the Rockford amps.
They're not that difficult to repair but you have to deal with the MEHSA insulators and SMD components.
How do you define similar?
Ohh never mind I thought the Power 351s would have similar guts because it has large power terminals so I thought it would be the same inside. I read on an old post that you said to use a butane torch I have one but no butane fluid.
Im working on a Punch 401s and got to say its been the toughest little amp thus far. I 'burned' up 2 new outputs with my butane torch, plus had to replace about 6 SMD components. Its taken three parts orders to get it right. From what I've seen these rockford amps are all about the same back from the DSM/40s up to the latest Punch power 1000s. THey are usually easy, just the one I have died a pretty lousy death and has been elusive. With more XP I'm sure this wouldnt happen to you.
I'd say stay away and let me bid on it for you. LOL!

Oh I see, did you get it running? And yes I'm pretty familiar with the mesha thing I just thought that the newer they get the more difficult it would be to repair. I've repaired a Punch 55.2 that had a pair of shorted outputs and it worked great! But I ran out of butane gas after that. BTW you don't got a Punch 601S or Punch 700S for sell?? For around $90 or so?
I have a perfectly working and sell-able Rockford Power 851s - which has never been repaired and does not need repair, and as soon as the 401s is fixed it will be for sale as well. I also have a Rockford Punch 4.6 which I can sell also but its not really like the others. I think the 851s was about $650-750 new back in ~2002ish.
Not to make this forum a for-sale thing, but I'd probably let the Power 851s go for $140 shipped. Its freakin heavy monster. If you want to RF 4.6 I can sell ya both for $175 shipped.
