Rockford Fosgate power 1000bd

Hey guys I will be getting in a power 1000bd the guy says it works plays still but the protection led comes on but the amp doesn't shut off its still playing. What could be causing this?

The circuit that drives the LED also controls the output. The first thing you need to do is to confirm that it's doing precisely what they said it's doing.

Okay I was told it pulses to the beat of the bass the protect led. Amp still plays while it's doing that.

Does the LED flash with no speakers connected to the amp?

Yes it is flashing still with no load plugged into the amp. What to check next?

Do you have the amp on the bench?

Is it drawing excessive current when it goes out of protect?
