okay, i'm making a big order to digikey. i want to keep them all international rectifier, possibly some st micro, not fairchild. i'll be getting some irf640's for sure, and wondering if i can slip them in place of these. they currently cross to irf5210pbf in ir. i know the 640's are a better, but not sure if i'll run into issues
I have NEVER had a problem with Fairchild parts.
What are the 40N10s going in?
None of the 3 that you listed are good subs for the others.

the 5210's are what i got from digikey..... ok, just crossed it to allxref and came up with irf1310n.... iirc, the 40n10's are obsolete. besides that, they are going in a lighning audio storm x1.1000.1d, which i was going to tear down for the case, but noticed it was actually a decently looking amp, just cheap parts. they are actually fairchild clones, with some weird "i" symbol. the actual cause of the failure is a leg broke right off a few of the outputs, then shorted another and killed the power supply fets (irfz44n)
yes, i'll probably be replacing that as well, as it badges the same manufacturer logo. what brand is that anyways? ..i..

Possibly Intersil:

For an HIP4080 amp, the only parts likely to work are the IRF3415 and the IRF3710Z (Z is VERY important). There may be others but those are the only ones that I know of that will work as replacements. The original parts (40N10s included) never worked for me. I tried them from two different sources in multiple amps and they never worked.

yah, that's it. thank you very much...... while i have your ear- the 100ohm, diodes, and 500ohm to source per pair is still good values to use, right?
If you're referring to components driving the output FETs, you should not have to make any circuit modifications.
