i have a sub plate amp with the 0-180 slide phase switch. i'd like to replace it with a variable pot would this be possible? and if so what type of pot would i need to use? thanks, crippledchicken 🙂
chook,
the phase switch is to correct for polarity inversion - if your sub connection is compressing when it should be rareifying i.e. an instant comparison for which is right judged by ear.
You're somewhere in between? Not that there's anything wrong with that.

It's impossible to do with the existing circuitry. All the switch does is select between an inverted and normal signal. I'd leave it alone as most variable phase circuits cause phase shift that varies with frequency and it is more likely to make the sound worse IMO.
