Replacing 9 speakers B52 matrix 2000. I need help please.

Hi everyone,

I have 9 B52 Matrix 2000 systems, where I daisy chain them all to make this huge sub wall. Its about time to service them and I was under the impression that I could get more out of these by upgrading the driver. Someone recommended the Faitel Pro HP1010, or 18 sound 18’s because they can handle what the amp is feeding.

Currently the amp I believe provides 600w to the sub channel and 600 is spilt between the 12” highs. So my question is Is there a driver I can put in this box that will hit more powerfully, efficiently (less heat, friction), and lower than what is in these now? I think some of these are loaded with FSW or FTW eminece’s, rebadged.

Or can you recommend a new system that will crush this setup, (everybody always screams bassboss😀) That I can use 3 20a circuits.

Thank you so much!!

No, and anyone that says that you can is lying. The box determines lowend extension and the amp determines how powerful it "hits", you're not changing either of those so changing just the driver will be a total waste of money.

2 bassboss subs would likely crush your whole wall of B52s in both SPL and lowend extension.

Actually, you probably WOULD notice an increase in output by upgrading the divers. But doing so would be bad economy. These systems will not experience an increase in output with upgraded drivers if they are properly used within their capability. But what would happen is that you could drive them much harder into continuous clipping without the drivers crying uncle. There would be less power compression on the improved drivers, and even more load then there was supposed to be on the amps. That WILL result in blown amplifiers - eventually. You would be left with a good set of drivers that you would need to build a system around - it would be better just to start there. And you could sell off (or rent out) the B52’s while they still work. Once you need to move beyond “prosumer” audio (which you do, or one or two B52’s would have been enough) it’s just a matter of deciding what to buy, or what to build, and figure out where the money is going to come from.

That driver is better than what’s in there. They were selling the B52 drivers at Parts Express (buyouts) for a while. They were just run of the mill drivers, and not all that expensive or anything special. Some may still be in stock.
