I have a Jukebox in my possession that was dropped and now when played emits a distortion, no music, is it saveable? Are there any repair shops in Melbourne upto the job? Can I do it myself?
Hi Griff,
What sort of distortion ?.
The juke boxes that I have repaired have been pretty agricultural so you should be able to find your way around.
Blown output stages, intermitent connectors, dry solder joints, dried electrolytics, and in your case maybe a cracked pcb somewhere.
Regards, Eric.

Actually, I think that a more probable cause of failure is the hard drive inside the Nomad. It has a normal laptop hard drive in it and is prone to failure if dropped. It really is not possible to fix yourself, since they use a funky file system. I think your best bet is to try creative tech support.

A lot of people have been working on hacking Nomad Jukeboxes. Tom's hardware has an article about putting in a bigger harddrive at http://www.tomshardware.com/mobile/00q4/001110/mp3-13.html there is also a page with all sorts of NOMAD hacks at http://www.kuren.org/jukebox/index.shtml
I really want to get one of these things.

Heres the problem guys, it was purchased in Singapore and kind of without warranty as far as I know.
As for the type of distortion, I will have to correct that one, the guy meant that the machine itself, not the output, as I cant even get an output anymore.
The machine turns on but cannot get past the opening CREATIVE logo.
The thing itself is noisy as hell.
Thanks for your feedback guys.
