Hey all,

I'm just trying to figure out how to remove the red non-conductive material that is on headphone wires. I've tried varsol and sand paper, but the varsol just didn't work and the sand paper wouldn't work because of the wire's strength or lack of.

I'm probably just going to recommend that my friend send them in for repair, but I'm also willing to take any ideas.

Haven't worked on that model but have had success with other fine 'phones leads just using the heat of molten solder to burn off the coating. You should end up with a nicely tinned end.
