Hello all,
I have a 1994 Dodge Dakota extended cab truck that I am upgrading the sound system in. It's still got the original factory door speakershttp://www.showtimecaraudio.net.com/ at the moment. Just so you know, I am a newbie at this and a college student with low cash reserves. 😛
Last weekend I picked up the following at a local pawn shop:
1) Kenwood KDC-X500
2) Kicker 40DCWS122 Ported enclosure with dual 12" CompS subwoofers
Power handling: 100-600 watts RMS (1200 watts peak power)
I am looking for recommendations on an amplifier, door speakers and wiring.
I am planning on picking up the equipment used so if you could help me with some specs and good brands to match what I've already purchased that would be amazing. 😉
Also, I know it's probably not the best... But would this Amp hold me well for awhile? https://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_108543_Planet-Audio-PL2000.1M.html
Thanks guys, Luke

Don't expect nearly the rated power from that 2000w class AB amp. As small as it is, it would run red hot if it produced anything near 750w.
For a value priced amp, I like the JBL's. Not shabby, not real pricey. Planey audio, you get what you pay for, plainy jainy likey go boom. Don't expect long life if you crank it up much. Your factory speakers are 5.25 in doors, 5x7 in rear. The Kenwood puts out 22 W RMS per channel and has lots of RCA line outs and a built-in sub crossover. With 2 twelves on your back, the head unit probably won't have enough loud. Plan on beefy door speakers and 50-75 W per channel amp to run them if you want to go deaf.
