I have two old receivers that stop putting out sound and then come back on intermittently. Anyone have any idea what this is and if these old receivers are worth having repaired?

Looks to me like all you need is DeoxIT and give them good cleaning. There may be lots of old oxidized contact switches, which are causing intermittent sound, not to mention potentiometers. Those need probably good cleaning too...
