Certain Extech Clamp Meters have been recalled due to a possible mechanical failure that can create incorrect (low or no volts) readings, which could lead users to a potential electrocution hazard should they rely on the meter reading.

Extech recalls Digital Clamp Meters - Recalls and safety alerts

Extech brand is manufactured by Uni-Trend aka Uni-T

Interesting that the Candian Safety site is incomplete, there is more than one manufacturer here. Most of Extech's stuff is made by CEM China, the maker of meters for Craftsman, Southwire, etc. Extech only recently started using Uni-T for an OEM for some newer model lines. As a general rule of thumb the EX line is made by CEM, the MM line is Brymen (old stuff, but the best stuff Extech ever labeled) and the MN line is a mix of CEM and Uni-T but mostly Uni-T.

The general rules hold true in this case. The EX655 and EX650 are very clearly CEM meters (specifically variants of the DT-38x model-line). While the MA ones are very clearly Uni-T. The MA160 looks to possibly be a cheapened version of the UT256B (2000 count, instead of 6000 count), while the MA61 and MA63 appear to be the UT211A and UT211B respectively.

This is not a stock disclosure or shareholder's annual report, it's a recall of specific devices.

The devices covered by the recall are made by Uni-T.

I have no idea what the provenance of other Extech devices has to do with this.

The Canada Consumer Product Safety Directorate generally announces safety recalls of electrical devices jointly with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission. I'm sure you will find the exact same information there.
