RAM-Playback via HDD, SDRAM, SSD, Compactflash instead from compact disc

I am a newcomer in this case and therefore I am looking for threads like this:

There are playback possible via PC direct in various kinds, media player (network player) and maybe many more.

I am looking for the royal way for recording and playback as an alternative for CD/CDR resp. DVD/DVD-ROM.
