Hi!
I have a HT receiver, namely the H/K AVR7000 that suddenly stopped working.
Don't know if this is the correct forum to ask - or the correct place to ask in this forum, but I found no other sensible place to put my post. 🙂
So, I'm wondering if anyone has experience with repairing AV-receivers?
I haven't done one in many years, and it might be very helpful if anyone had an idea where to start.
The symptoms are: Turns "on" from standby, but don't get any sound or light in the display.
My thoughts are a dry cap in the power supply, or the main controller is broken.
Any tips? 🙂

Without schematics it's going to be difficult to do much other than look for bad electrolytics. HK do post some circuits, I got one for my HKTS7 sub which refused to come out of standby. That was a cap of marginal value whose sole job was to monitor the presence of AC mains - poor design basically, probably when they converted it to UK 50Hz 240v they got their sums wrong!
I'm sure if you could locate and post schematics you would get plenty of advice.

Hmm im also working on repairing a couple of receivers. Even without schematics you can still check for some simple to check things. How do you know the receiver turns on? Do you hear any relays click or any sound from the speakers? What caused it to start doing this? Open it up, clean, and check for obvious problems such as burnt or damaged components. Also check the fuse for the main transformer and check to see that it out puts voltage.
You can get a circuit here ..... Harman Kardon AVR 7000 Service Manual free download, schematics, datasheets, eeprom bins, pcb
It's in 8 parts, you have to click on the numbers next to 'multipart'.

Thanks for the fast replies! 🙂
I also assume there might be a capacitor that's out of order, so that's probably a good way to start. I'm just a little anxious, hoping it's not the main controller chip...
I do actually have the schematics on .PDF, but I don't think I can post that here?
Maybe I can customize my forum at ultimatediy.org to allow uploading of attachments, then it might be downloadable from there...? Dunno if that's possible but I can check it out if anyone's interested.
If anyone has another way to help, it would be great. 😀
Thanks again so far!
