I plan on building a "high power" amp using the KT88. Found the following circuits:
1) Which will be the better quality one to build?
2) Are there any other/better high quality circuit to use with this tube?
Jolida SJ-502a
Radford STA-100
Thanx for all assistance 😉

JDeV, check out the circuit on my post (Very powerfull push/pull) it can use KT88 or KT90's and it kicks some serious butt.

Hi JdeV,
Here are a couple more for your consideration:
http://www.amplimo.nl/download/pubs/hqpp-50/hqpp50.pdf
The Power Supply may be found here:
http://www.amplimo.nl/download/pubs/hqpp-50/hqpp50ps.pdf
Then there's the Claus Byrith amplifier discussed here:
http://www.lundahl.se/claus_b.html
This last amplifier is based on the Mullard 5-20 (uses EL34 PP) and gives excellent results (I have built five of them!)
I also wish to construct something else now and I am looking favourably at the HQPP50W design above.
Hammond Output Transformers are locally available for all the above (JHB & CT) while the Mains Transformers can be manufactured by a Company such as Peter Souris.
Regards
-Eric

I know that one, build 2 myself about 3 years ago. Bussy at the moment to fit new PSU and high grade components to it. Got the urge to build something with the KT88, like the appearance of the valve 😎
Remember this? 😉

JDeV said:Hi george,
Which amp circuit is this and where can I get component values, trafo specs etc?
The amps long gone and i don't have the values for it any longer but some of the brainiacs here may be able to calculate out the parts guys like SY and alike if their feeling bored. the tranies were one of the Hamond ones a 150 watter.
This amp put out somthing like 180watt in ultralinier, with a switch i had it in triode mode still up around 80.
Cheers George

Yep... that was a whikle ago.... have you looked at the other site I referred you to - the one with the HQ50PP amplifier? That uses KT88...
