Problem with LM2577-ADJ

I made a circuit based on the schematic below:
LM-2577-switching-regulator-.jpg

Diode using 1n5819 and R1 is VR.
This is the circuit I made:
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

I've try many trim pot and the circuit works at the begining.
After seconds the voltage goes very high and I though the IC has burned.
So I changed the new one and the same thing happened until I found a pot like the picture above and put it on the circuit.
When the circuit on, the pot gets very hot just after seconds.
This circuit has burned my two trim pot and I've checked all the wiring and found nothing error.
What's the problem with this circuit?

"based on" means, "like this but i changed some things". What did you change? Ideally, what is the exact schematic you used?

What's the value of the trimpot? How is it connected?

Actually it's not "based on", it's an "implementation" of the schematic. Just some of parts changed.
R1 is a variable resistor so I should adjust the R1 and measure the output voltage to get the desired value.
I think if there is no load in the output then R1, R2 could be the load and that's why R1 gets hot.
