WTB Pre amp for DIY F5 and F6

Wanted to buy
Thanks for the suggestions. I have already bought the BA2018 boards and components but I wanted to see if there was a better option.
It is a great preamp. Post back with your listening impressions once you get some time on it.

One recommendation that I have is to look into SMD soldering. If you have no experience with it, there are different techniques one being solder paste.

I have done it with a soldering gun by tinning one pad and putting liquid flux down on all of the pads, then place and hold the JFET with a pair of tweezers. Put a small amount of solder on the tip of your soldering gun and solder one leg of the JFET while still holding it. Then solder the last two while the first leg holds the JFET in place. You will want to check your connections afterwards.

If you are making a digikey or mouser order, it is a good idea to toss some of the JFETS in the cart if they are available. They are very cheap.

Yes, it's the small price to pay for going BA2018 route - 8pcs SOT23 JFETs.
Got the Gordak958D hot air rework station and the RELIFE tin solder paste on its way.
Dang this thing smaller than boger, make sure don't sneeze.
But, who's old to do these things? not me

If you are looking to build, then why post in swap meet and not the Pass forum ?
Or you want to buy, fully built, kit, PCB, .... ?

Anyway, just as we have a F5XP to go with the F5X, we also have a F5 Preamp.

It can be used as a front-end together with the M2OPS to make a great integrated amp.
But it can also be used as a stand alone preamp.
Will come with ladder attenuator, source selector, and remote control, etc.
Same transistor set as BA3.
Drives 600 ohm with ease.

Cheers,
Patrick

I am looking to buy something if possible. I bought the boards as a backup just in case but I might have the BA2018 built anyway.
